Soooo....I'll dedicate THIS blog to the aWeSoMe recent SIMPSON happenings:
The nationally ranked #10 STORM Women's Basketball Team broke the school record for # of wins in a season, clinching both the regular season AND Iowa Conference Tourney titles! And they did so in quite a dominating fashion. It's not over yet, though - they're hosting a region of the NCAA DIII Nat'l Tourney 1st & 2nd rounds this weekend. Cowles Fieldhouse will be filled with RED & GOLD as the STORM take on the Gustavus Adolphus Gusties Friday @ 7pm. By the way, what is a "Gustie"?! ...Then, after we WIN that game, we'll move on to play the winner of another on Saturday evening.
In addition to the incredible TEAM success, Katelyn Whiton has been named 1 of 10 Josten's Trophy finalists. This is a national award honoring the best student-athletes on the court, in the classroom & with service to their community. Whiton was ALSO named the Iowa Conference MVP & Head Coach Brian Niemuth is the Conference Coach of the Year!
Junior Whitney Franker & senior Ashley Katch were First Team All-Conference selections & senior Carlie Beals was named Honorable Mention All- Conference, too!

We are SO proud of them all & look forward to their NCAA Tourney games...
The STORM Women's Track & Field team placed 2nd @ the Iowa Conference Indoor Championships with Head Coach Dave Cleveland being named Indoor Conference Coach of the Year!
Now, we can't wait to see how they do in the outdoor season...

Sophomore STORM Men's Basketball player Tim Dunlavy has been named as 1 of only 7 players to the All-Conference First Team. And he's only a sophomore...woohoo!
CUATRO:
Studying abroad is life-changing & an incredible experience for all who get the opportunity! It was particularly eye-opening for SIMPSON senior Danny Heggen during his year abroad in Perth, Australia last year. He published a book...in 6 1/2 months! Yeah, really! :)
"This book, Voices on the Inside: The Women of Boronia, deals with the lives and experiences of the inmates at the Boronia Pre-release Centre for Women. The Centre is a select facility for women who have recently been released from a maximum security term and need to slowly ease back into society. ....
Heggen's book begins with a history of the Boronia Pre-release Centre, a foreword by Minister of Justice in Western Australia and Heggen's personal reflection. The highlights, however, are the women's stories. Heggen's book chronicles each woman's life before prison and how each person got into their situation. ....
Heggen initially was recommended to this project by Curtin's Professor Ian Fairnie. Fairnie runs a program called "Curtin Volunteers!," which requires students to complete 40 hours of volunteer work each semester. ...."
A group of SIMPSON students attended the National Model U.N. (United Nations) Conference in St. Louis - the only Iowa college or university group to attend!
Zac Craig, a 2007 SIMPSON grad, is currently working at an internship with the strength and conditioning program at LSU! ....
"Since the internship started in mid-August, Craig has worked with nearly every sport. One of the more exciting highlights of his time at LSU came in January, when Craig traveled with the football team to the National Championship Game, played at the Louisiana Superdome....Before Craig began his internship at LSU, he worked as an intern with the strength and conditioning program at Simpson."
“The Women’s History Month celebration at Simpson brings to campus a variety of events that focus on the stories of American women, both past and present. The stories give women a voice and connect and unite the generations,” said Jennifer Ross Nostrala, director of the women’s study program at Simpson. “These events—which explore the journeys women have taken throughout history—inspire, encourage, and create strong, positive role models for young women.”
OCHO:
The SIMPSON Admissions Office has had a FaNtAbUlOuS February of success with a couple hundred students & families visiting campus on individiual visits, Music & Theatre Scholarship Audition Weekends, Winter Visit Day & a Scholarship Recognition Luncheon!
