SiMPSON DiD iT!

...we UPSET our BiGGEST RiVAL, the Central Dutch in a nervewracking, but AMAZiNG football game last Saturday!

It was a COLD, COLD day, but the STORM was HOT...we went ahead 17-7; Central fought back to tie it (thankfully we held 'em to only a field goal) & the game went in to OT. We scored on a 2nd down 25 yard pass. Then on Central's 2nd down, STORM senior Tim Stover INTERCEPTED it to WiN 24-17! The fact that it was AT CENTRAL made the win even better.

I wish I could see the replay! :D

This was the PERFECT end to a 7-3 season & PERFECT beginning to a new SiMPSON STORM DOMiNATiON..it was very special for the seniors, the NEW coaching staff, the 8 SPiRiTED shirtless guys cheering on a freezing day, & the entire SiMPSON community.

Leave it to ME...to always have dRaMa-FiLlEd travel season!

Spring Travel Season has only just begun...6 hours ago...

AND...

I already have stories for ya, LOL! For those of you who know me, that is no suprise I'm sure. But, I have to leave you in suspense till I return home this weekend, since I wanna hit the sack early. I have a very short amount of time to go siteseeing tomorrow before the Simpson Alumni Event.

I am; however, excited to share with you that I'm about to sleep in the shadow of one of our country's greatest Presidents. The 16th one, in fact. Yep, Abraham Lincoln - Ford's Theatre is only 2 blocks from my hotel! I'm sure you've guessed it by now...I'm in Washington D.C. :)

I'm crossing my fingers that the stupid rain holds off tomorrow, since my mode of transportation is my own two feet...

Toodles; I'm off to snoooozzzles.

SC Alum Makes it Big in the Big Apple!

2005 graduate, John Michael Moore, has quickly soarED to success following his Vocal Music studies at SIMPSON! Our very own star is now making his debut with the New York Metropolitan Opera...that's right folks, THE Met! ...this is pretty much equivalent to being drafted into professional athletics.

Moore is a baritone originally from N.W. Iowa and received his B.M. in Vocal Performance at SIMPSON, where he performed as "Trigorin" in The Seagull, "John Proctor" in The Crucible, "Billy Bigelow" in Carousel, "Papageno" in The Magic Flute, and "Danilo" in The Merry Widow. Shortly after graduation, he was a resident artist with Minnesota Opera where he performed "Sciarrone" in Tosca and "Masetto" in Ron Giovanni. In addition, he sang "Schaunard" in Minnesota Orchestra's La Boheme. We welcomed him back to Indianola when he performed with the Des Moines Metro Opera for the '05 & '06 seasons, which is a professional opera based on the SIMPSON campus during the summer. He played "Yamadori" in Madama Butterfly, "Henry Cuffe" in Gloriana & "Papageno" in The Magic Flute.

Moore is a multi-year winner in district & regional New York Metropolitican Opera auditions, reaching the finals in 2006. He joined The Met's Lindemann Young Artist Development Program in 2006, returning there this season. He will be singing "Fiorello" in II Barbiere di Siviglia for his New York Met debut.

John Michael Moore is wonderful as this exotic character (Papageno). He sings with a rich baritone of beauty and finesse. - The Des Moines Register

A baritone, John Michael Moore, made his Met debut in the small role of Fiorello. It will be nice to hear him, too, in larger roles. He seems an easy, natural singer, lucky guy. - The New York Sun
