SiMPSON DiD iT!

...we UPSET our BiGGEST RiVAL, the Central Dutch in a nervewracking, but AMAZiNG football game last Saturday!

It was a COLD, COLD day, but the STORM was HOT...we went ahead 17-7; Central fought back to tie it (thankfully we held 'em to only a field goal) & the game went in to OT. We scored on a 2nd down 25 yard pass. Then on Central's 2nd down, STORM senior Tim Stover INTERCEPTED it to WiN 24-17! The fact that it was AT CENTRAL made the win even better.

I wish I could see the replay! :D

This was the PERFECT end to a 7-3 season & PERFECT beginning to a new SiMPSON STORM DOMiNATiON..it was very special for the seniors, the NEW coaching staff, the 8 SPiRiTED shirtless guys cheering on a freezing day, & the entire SiMPSON community.

People Flocking to Campus...from ALL OVER!

I'm uber ExCiTeD because now that decision time is approaching, I'm having several students schedule campus visits, as well as a good response for Winter Visit Day & my Van Trips from Minnesota & Nebraska!

Within the next month (so far...) I have students visiting from Minnesota, Tennessee, Washington, Colorado, Nebraska, Illinois & Florida...I'm crossing my fingers that they drive up Highway 65/69 afterwards with a big smile on their faces & a little inkling of ExCiTeMeNt in their gut telling them that SIMPSON just feels "right."

I have a few of my Cowles Fellows visiting (the most prestigious scholarship we offer that includes a travel stipend to study abroad for a semester or May Term), one gal wanting to study criminal justice & Spanish while continuing to help with the strength & conditioning program, a softball player who wants to study athletic training & pre-physical therapy, a track & cross country runner who wants to major in English & pre-law, a soccer player who wants to study forensic science & biochemistry, a really motivated elementary education & Spanish major, a history major, a football player, a math major whose Grandma is a Simpson alum & a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, and a few music majors auditioning for their fine art scholarship - hip, hip, hooray for all of 'em! I just wish I was gonna be on campus to meet 'em all. :( Hopefully, though, I'll see each of 'em @ Summer Orientation in June or Move-In Day in August...hint, hint...if any of you are reading this... ;P

And, I'd like to leave you with a belated honor of The Great Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr....

An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.

At the center of non-violence stands the principle of love.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.

Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.

In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.
